MEP Enviro Technology Sdn Bhd is a Penang waste and e-waste recovery company founded in 2005 and based in Bukit Minyak, where it opened a RM100 million plant in 2024. It is TANAKA’s partner in TANAKA MEP Refinery, a RM70 million precious-metal refinery in Batu Kawan.

A Japan–Penang joint venture has started work on a RM70 million gold refinery on about 3 acres in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, due to open in early 2029.
