Malaysia Smelting Corporation Berhad (Bursa: 5916) is one of the world’s leading integrated tin producers, spanning tin mining through smelting and refining. It is about 52% owned by Singapore-listed The Straits Trading Company. MSC closed its century-old Butterworth smelter in Penang and consolidated smelting at a new plant in Pulau Indah, Klang, freeing its share of a roughly 40-acre freehold Butterworth landbank now being redeveloped as Straits City.
